Thank you for reading and for relating your experience. That is fascinating, and yes, you nailed it. What is charming or fascinating to a child’s eyes can be anything but to the adult’s. My mother hated being in Saudi Arabia. She chafed every second of it. She was an ambitious journalist and was aghast at what she observed and learned. How interesting to be in Madrid during Franco’s dictatorship. Have you ever written about it? (Other than to me) :)
